**Invisible Children is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as its Central Africa Regional Director, responsible for overall management and direction of the organization’s field offices and programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Central African Republic (CAR). Additionally, s/he will provide overall administrative leadership and technical expertise for an anticipated USAID award of $24 million for five years, which will focus on community protection and resilience in DRC and CAR and include activities that address the intersection between human security, conservation, and development. The home post of the Central Africa Regional Director is currently being determined between Bangui, CAR and Kinshasa, DRC. S/he should expect frequent travel to all of Invisible Children field offices and remote implementation sites.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership to Invisible Children’s field-based staff in DRC and CAR on program design and implementation and operations management
Contribute to mid-term and long-term organizational strategic planning together with other senior-level Invisible Children staff and executives
Represent Invisible Children to donors, host-country governments, local, national and international NGO partners, UN and government agencies, and other key stakeholders based in or visiting the region
Manage a diverse team of national and international staff across DRC and CAR, ensuring compliance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and providing mentorship, direction, and team cohesion
Provide technical guidance in Invisible Children’s core program areas (including community-based protection, early warning systems, and trauma healing), and expected areas of programmatic expansion (including conflict mitigation and social cohesion, community-based conservation, and pro-conservation livelihood programs)
Oversee the development of annual work plans, budgets, and other donor-specific project plans
Manage country office budgets and institutional donor project budgets
Ensure all project implementation is in compliance with organization’s policies and procedures, and with grant and cooperative agreement rules, requirements, and regulations where applicable
Provide overall leadership and management for anticipated USAID award, including technical expertise, budget management, quality assurance, and compliance with 2 CFR 200 rules and regulations for federal awards
Ensure the organization maintains a strong risk mitigation and management plan
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience of relevant technical and management experience
Technical experience in two or more of the following areas: community-based protection, early warning systems, conflict mitigation, community development, trauma healing, and community participation in conservation programming
Experience in gender-sensitive programming and/or social protection interventions for women and children
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field
Successful track record in program design, implementation, and monitoring
Proven ability to inspire and manage a diverse team to achieve organizational objectives
Proven ability to thrive and think creatively in a complex and dynamic work environment
Experience in development, management, and analysis of multimillion-dollar country budgets
Experience and knowledge of operations, procurement, contract management, and logistics
Experience working in DR Congo, Central African Republic, or a similar conflict/post-conflict environment
Ability to adjust to shifting political and security circumstances
Desire to live and work in a remote and challenging environment
Fluency in English and French is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity or experience with community-based conservation programming
Knowledge of Arabic or local language(s) of northeast DRC and eastern CAR, including Lingala and Sango
Experience with 2 CFR 200 rules and regulations for federal awards
