RTI is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Organizational Capacity Development Specialist position on an anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future Democratic Republic of Congo Kivu Value Chain Activity. The goal of the activity is to increase household incomes and access to nutrient rich crops by linking small holder farmers to strengthened and inclusive value chains and supportive market services. USAID anticipates a five year period of performance with a total estimated cost range of $22-24 million. This position will be located in Bukavu, South Kivu, DRC.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in directly building the capacity of local partners (preferably in DRC) through training and/or mentoring in a range of areas: financial management, investment and business planning, human resources, institutional governance, leadership, project management, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitates relationships with local communities, agricultural producer cooperatives and associations, businesses, and government entities • Conduct organizational capacity assessments of public and private sector organizations along agricultural value chains • Design and facilitate the implementation of capacity building interventions • Support grant-making for organizational capacity development • Serve as technical advisor for local organizations implementing trainings and other capacity building activities Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s-level in Social Science, Public Policy, Community Development, or Organizational Strengthening preferred • Minimum 6 years’ experience in organizational/capacity development • Prior experience working in DRC (DRC residence preferred) • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in using local capacity development (LCD) tools such as pre-award surveys, OCA-like assessment tools, and institutional strengthening plans. • Proven ability to assess capacity building interventions and recommend appropriate activities to develop skills and promote organizational learning and change. • Experience in developing trainings for local public and private sector organizations that cover a broad range of areas across financial management and recordkeeping, business planning, human resources, adherence to regulations, and organizational governance. • Experience in women’s empowerment and gender sensitization or mainstreaming • Reputation for professional excellence (as evidenced by references and achievements). • Strong written communication and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills. • Experience working on international donor-funded development projects preferred. • Experience in agriculture sector preferred. • Language Ability: Oral and written fluency in French and English required.
