Scope of work:

Integrity is seeking experienced researchers with expertise in Political Economy Analysis in the Congolese context to conduct short-term studies (2 to 3 months) throughout 2016 to inform the UK Department for International Development’s programming in DRC. The research will be conducted in various DRC provinces, including in rural and remote areas. We are looking for researchers with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Civil society
  • Governance
  • Decentralisation and decoupage
  • Public service delivery (education, health)
  • Private sector development
  • Conflict and armed groups
  • Stabilisation in eastern DRC

The candidate must have:

  • 10 years’ research experience, including designing research studies and supporting researchers in developing country contexts
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of different research approaches, in particular political economy analysis, qualitative research, and gender analysis
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews and focus group discussions in DRC
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the DRC, including both eastern and western provinces
  • A solid network of Congolese contacts that could be drawn on either to be part of the research team, or to be key informant interviewees
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Language skills:

  • Written and oral fluency in English and French
  • Knowledge of Congolese languages a plus
