DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for a Program Development Officer to support our programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Our programme in DRC works with schools and communities to support education, protection and development. The programme is focused on education in emergencies, Mine Action, and livelihoods support in the form of Income Generating Activities (IGA). DCA’s Mine Action programming includes removing explosive remnants of war (ERW) and teaching communities how to avoid the risks of landmines and other ERW.
DCA is looking to expand its areas of intervention in Eastern Congo and develop its programming towards thematic areas which are new for its DRC country programme.
As Programme Development Officer, your main tasks and responsibilities will be:
Taking the lead in proposal writing and reporting to donors
Assisting the programme team with monitoring and evaluation, including the development of M&E systems and training national M&E officers
Providing content for internal and external communications pieces, including articles and news updates
Supporting the Country Director with participation in the relevant clusters and other appropriate fora
Supporting the Country Director with any other task relevant to the programme, including some issues related to the management of the national programme team
The position is based in Bukavu, DR Congo.
You have the following qualifications:
At least 5 years of development or humanitarian experience, including prior experience at the field level, ideally in DR Congo
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international development, or similar degrees
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor liaison
- Knowledge of development issues
Ability to work independently and to work under pressure
Fluency in written and spoken French and strong working knowledge of English is required
