Purpose of the Position
Under the direct supervision of the Supply Manager, the incumbent manages logistics operations of a large-sized country office. Responsible for Warehouse and Inventory Management (WIM), including planning, coordination of incoming shipments, warehousing, in-country transport, establishment of logistics hubs and distribution. Advises on all matters related to area of expertise. Collaborates closely with supply and programme colleagues in defining interventions to meet the country office programmatic needs.
Key Expected Results
1. Manages the Country Office's warehouse and inventory operations in line with UNICEF policies and procedures.
2.Ensure sound, accurate logistics/warehouse and inventory management system, procedures and documentation as well as regular, accurate reporting to maintain the highest level of integrity, standards and accountability.
3.Provide technical leadership, support, coaching and training to capacity-building in order to ensure efficient, effective and timely delivery of supplies.
Plan, design and conduct training for UNICEF staff/consultants and counterparts in warehouse, distribution and inventory management of supplies and equipment in order to maximize supply delivery. Provide effective coaching to the staff/consultant as required.
4. Develops and maintains effective collaboration and partnership in supply/purchasing/logistics with internal and external counterparts through enhanced coordination, communication and networking.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
1. Education
Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Management, International Economics, Engineering, International Development, Contract/commercial Law or specialization in directly related areas including credited courses in supply, logistics, purchasing or contracting.
First University degree combined with additional two years of demonstrated professional work experience and understanding of relevant functions may be considered in lieu of advanced university degree, preferably combined with credited courses or certifications from relevant professional bodies in supply chain management, procurement, contracting or logistics.
